Champion is a manufacturer of clothing, specializing in sports, athletic wear. The brand is owned by American company Authentic Brands Group LLC. Champion was established in 1919 by the Feinbloom brothers. 

At Champion, we respect the privacy of individuals ("visitor", "you", "your") and recognize the importance of protecting the confidentiality and security of your information.  This Privacy Notice (the "Notice") provides an overview of the practices followed by Champion Europe S.r.l., with registered office in Carpi (MO), 41012 Viale dell'Agricoltura n. 51, and its affiliates, subsidiaries or associated companies ("Champion", "we", "us", "our") with respect to the collection, processing and disclosure of your personal data.   

The terms "your" and "you" in this Notice refer to anyone who uses or accesses our services.  This policy applies to personal data collected through our websites or applications, at our stores, or through our other products and services (the "Services").   

This Notice is harmonized in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016 on the protection of individuals in connection with processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and on the repeal of Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) (hereinafter: „GDPR“).

Champion uses information about you and your use of our Services for a variety of purposes related to business operations and as described in this Policy.  We may only process your data if there is a legal basis that allows us to do so. Here's why we process your data:

PLACING ORDERS 

PROCESS/SERVICE: The placement of an order (purchase of goods or services) by the User of the Website involves the processing of his/her Personal Data. The provision of data marked as mandatory is required in order to accept and process the order, and failure to provide such data will result in the order not being processed. Provision of the remaining data is optional.

PRIZE GAMES/AWARD WINNING CONTESTS

  • PROCESS/SERVICE:we process personal information you provide us when registering to such an event. If you won any of the main prizes, and invited to the award ceremony. That event may be recorded and the recording published publicly.
  • PURPOSE:To facilitate participation in prize game/award winning contest and organize distribution of awards for winners.
  • LEGAL BASIS:Your consent to participate in the prize game/award winning contest – Article 6. par. 1 (a) GDPR.

EVENTS

  • PROCESS/SERVICE:We organize at our stores events aimed at promoting Champion goods.
  • PURPOSE:To provide you with promotion materials and offers.

FRAUD PREVENTION

  • PROCESS/SERVICE:In some cases, in order to complete your purchase in contexts other than this website, it may be necessary to carry out some additional checks with a view to fraud prevention.  These checks may include sharing your data with third parties who process credit or debit card payments and carry out anti-fraud checks, banks, judicial authorities. 
  • PURPOSE:Conducting additional fraud prevention checks to establish customer identity in situations where higher risk of fraud is identified by us.

YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR MIND WHENEVER YOU WANT!

If you decide to withdraw your consent and there are no other reasons for us to process your personal data, we will cease the processing. On the other hand, if another legal basis authorizes us, we will continue the processing always respecting your rights. It is understood that in the event of withdrawal of your consent, this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing of your personal data carried out on the basis of your consent given before its withdrawal.  

 
4. INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE 
Champion will ask you to provide personal information when you access or use our Services. For example, you may provide this information when you purchase a product, subscribe to services such as email communications, create a "My Favorites" list or other product listings, participate in contests or surveys, or communicate with customer support. We may also obtain information through other publicly available sources, where permitted by applicable law. The following are examples of information we may ask you directly:

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Champion may collect information about you from other sources, such as through business partners or using publicly available sources.  Information that may be collected from other sources includes, but is not limited to, your name, your contact information such as email or postal address, your date of birth, consumer or market research data including purchasing trends, and any publicly available data or activity, such as blogs, videos, internet content, and other user-generated content.  

We also obtain information from third parties.  For example, certain portions of the Site may include features or controls of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, and YouTube (each referred to as the "Social Media Platform"), and we may allow you to register or access the Site through a Social Media Platform. These features use cookies to collect information about your IP address and the pages of our Site that you have visited. Your interactions with these features are governed by the terms of use and privacy policies of the companies that provide them.

WITH OUR SERVICE PROVIDERS

As part of an international organization, Champion uses third-party service providers to perform various tasks on our behalf.  When we share your personal data with our suppliers, we only disclose the information necessary for the provision of the services we have requested, and we require the providers to protect the data and avoid using it for any other purpose.  For example, we may use third-party service providers for the following purposes:  

  • To process your requests for products, including payment management and shipping, with reference to purchases made by you in contexts other than this website    
  • Manage promotions and contests  
  • Manage the hosting of the sites we operate on and send you emails or other communications  
  • Analyze our data, in some cases together with data from other sources, to send you communications

We may disclose your personal data in the event that we believe that doing so is necessary to protect and safeguard the rights and property of Champion, including the enforcement of our Terms and Conditions, or where disclosure is required by law or public authorities.  

We may share aggregated and anonymous information, which does not identify you, for Champion's business purposes.  For example, we may disclose the number of visits you receive to our websites.  We may also share aggregated and anonymous information with our business partners, as part of their business purposes, in accordance with applicable laws.  

Note that Champion brand is owned by Authentic Brands Group LLC which granted to Champion Europe S.r.l. a license to manage the Champion brand. In the event such license is withdrawn, the personal data you provided to Champion may be transferred to Authentic Brands Group LLC or to another entity designated by it. This may include transfer of your personal data to the United States of America. 


6. TRANSMISSION OF PERSONAL DATA
Because Champion is part of an international organization, your information may be passed on to group facilities located in countries other than the one in which you live, or otherwise to trusted third parties based in other countries, to enable us to process your data on our behalf.  This may include the transmission of your data to the United States.    

Champion will comply with applicable data protection laws when transmitting your data to other countries, and has taken proportionate security measures to ensure that the transfer of data to its affiliates and suppliers outside the EU/EEA is adequately safe and secure. This was done through 

a) cooperation with processors of Personal Data in countries for which a relevant decision of the European Commission has been issued as to whether an adequate level of protection of Personal Data is ensured (for more information, please go through the list provided here: https://commission.europa.eu/law/law-topic/data-protection/international-dimension-data-protection/adequacy-decisions_en); 

b) the execution of the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission. When transferring data to the United States, where applicable, we also rely on the safeguards provided by the Data Privacy Framework in relation to those individuals who have subscribed to it.   


7. PROTECTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

Champion has implemented technical and organizational measures to protect your information against loss and unauthorized use or alteration.  Your data is stored in a secure environment and access to your information is restricted in order to prevent unauthorized access, modification or misuse, and is only granted to employees or third parties who work on our behalf and need to access the data. 


8. PERSONAL DATA RETENTION PERIOD

The period of data processing by the Champion depends on the type of service provided and the purpose of the processing. The data are processed for the duration of the service provided or the execution of the order, until the withdrawal of the consent given or until an effective objection is made to the data processing in cases where the legal basis for the data processing is the legitimate interest of the Champion. In general, we will retain your personal data for as long as your Champion account is active, and no longer than 24 months in the event of inactivity. 

The processing period may be extended if the processing is necessary for the establishment and assertion of possible claims or the defence against claims, and thereafter only if and to the extent required by law. After the expiry of the processing period, the data shall be irreversibly deleted or anonymised.
